Vic: 4WDs more at risk of rollover deaths than standard cars

Research shows people in four-wheel drives are more than three times more likely to
die in a rollover crash than those in ordinary cars.

The RACV says a lot more four-wheel drives are involved in high-speed rollover crashes
and deaths .. with drivers aged under 30 most at risk.

The motoring organisation is calling for Electronic Stability Program technology to
be standard in 4x4's .. to curb the death toll.

The RACV report examined more than 660-thousand recent crashes.

While only five per cent of four-wheel drive crashes were rollovers .. they made up
30 per cent of four-wheel drive deaths and serious injuries.
