NSW: Top rural doctors resign over indemnity confusion

SYDNEY, Jan 18 AAP - Five specialists have resigned from country public hospitals over
the state government's top-up insurance scheme, with the Australian Medical Association
warning of further resignations to follow.

Three obstetricians in Tamworth and two anaesthetists in Lismore said they took the
action because it was unclear what the health department's insurance scheme covered.

One of the obstetricians, Dr Keith Hollebone, said the department had not explained
how much was covered under the insurance, for how long and whether doctors …
