Qld: Gov meets with taskforce about meatworks
The Queensland Government has met with the Meat Industry Taskforce in a bid to save1,350 meatworkers' jobs.
Taskforce head BOB MCCARTHY was sent to oversee talks between staff and managementof Consolidated Meat Group, which told employees on Friday its Lakes Creek plant wouldnot reopen after an annual Christmas shutdown.
Mr MCCARTHY -- who's the Deputy Director-General of State Development -- will reportback to Acting Premier TERRY MACKENROTH early this week.
